Ok , so I’ve just completely slagged off the first movie a few days ago and since found out about the second part despite it being a crap film I just had to watch it to see what happens next. It’s kind of like watching Final Destination. The first movie was something good as it was original but the following 4 incarnations are just the same drawn out movie produced again and again for the sake of producing it.
However this isn’t like that, it’s actually a bit better than the first. Why I hear you ask, well 1) it is shot in London , 2) the whole thing is in black and white which I think works well. 3) It shows that the first movie was just that “A MOVIE” You’d have to see the film to know what I mean but the main protagonist in this film is watching the first film so it suggests it was a movie and not real all along which is good because it was crap, so because of that you kind of now accept the first movie for what it is.
Don’t get me wrong this movie is still dire but it is a shade better than the first. The scenes are more graphic and the bumbling lead is actually quite believable. There are some great moments when he smashes his mother’s head in and then sits her at the table and has something to eat. Also the moment when he gets a centipede shoved up his arse. There are some horrible moments though as he reflects on his tortured upbringing and the visualisation of the death of a newborn baby which is a bit much even for me ( but it’s just a film people) it’s not real so just relax.
overall I’d give this a 3 out of 10 . It’s still crap but its a bit better than the first and actually this makes the both of them worth watching.
